Also on the road this weekend are Real Sociedad, who’ll look to build on the momentum from last weekend’s derby victory over rivals Athletic Club. La Real have won three matches in a row across all competitions, and will hope for another three-point haul when they visit Elche CF on Friday night.

There are four matches on Saturday, the first of which is Girona FC vs Deportivo Alavés. The Basque side have moved up to eighth in the table and are having a great season under Eduardo Coudet. On this visit to the bottom-placed side in the standings, they’ll hope for another victory and a further move up the table.

The next game is Sevilla FC vs CA Osasuna, and this is a huge one for Matías Almeyda. With Los Nervionenses having lost three league games in a row since their big win over FC Barcelona, the coach is under pressure and will be hoping for a positive result this weekend.

Atlético de Madrid are in action next, when they host Levante UD at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Atleti haven’t lose a league game since the opening weekend of the season and they’ve won their past three, so another victory here would put them back in the title picture.

The Saturday night game pits sixth-placed RCD Espanyol and third-placed Villarreal CF against each other, which should be a scintillating showdown. El Submarino Amarillo have won their past five matches against RCD Espanyol, so travel to Barcelona with reason to feel confident about this Saturday’s match.

It’s a super Sunday, with five games in one day, starting with Athletic Club vs Real Oviedo. These are two teams who have suffered some tough defeats in recent weeks, so they’ll both be determined to turn in a good performance in this one.

The 16:15 CET game on Sunday is a capital city derby, with Rayo Vallecano hosting Real Madrid. Considering Los Blancos have only won on one of their past five visits to Vallecas, this won’t be an easy game for Xabi Alonso’s side. If they want to maintain their advantage at the top of the table, they’ll need to be at their best.

There are two simultaneous fixtures at 18:30 CET on Sunday evening, one of which features two of the most historic clubs in competition history, as Valencia CF and Real Betis do battle at Mestalla. Just across the Mediterranean, the other game at the same time is RCD Mallorca vs Getafe CF, a big game for both teams as the islanders look to move further away from the relegation zone and as Los Azulones aim to consolidate their position in the European qualification race.

Then, the final match of the matchday is RC Celta vs FC Barcelona, and this has been a thrilling fixture over the years. Across the past five seasons, the meetings between these two clubs in Vigo have produced two FC Barcelona wins, one RC Celta win and two draws, with an average of 3.8 goals scored per game. Kick-off is 21:00 CET and another fun game awaits.
