Barça suffered a 4-1 loss at the hands of Los Nervionenses back in October.

LALIGA EA SPORTS Matchday 28 is set to feature a highly-anticipated clash between FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the clash on the back of a hard-fought victory away at Athletic Club that allowed them to restore a four-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid. A Lamine Yamal goal – his fourth in the last two league games – midway through the second half was enough for Barça to secure all three points at San Mamés. Meanwhile, Sevilla FC will look to extend their unbeaten streak to six games after grabbing four draws and a victory in their last five matches. One of these draws came in ELGRAN DERBI away at Real Betis, with Los Nervionenses showing great character to come back from two goals down. Antony and Álvaro Fidalgo scored one each for Los Verdiblancos in the first half at the Estadio de La Cartuja, but Iván Romero and Alexis Sánchez got their names on the scoresheet after the break to rescue a point in that derby.

Alexis returns to the Spotify Camp Nou

Sevilla FC couldn’t have asked for a better moment for Alexis to end a 14-game goal drought. In fact, the experienced forward had only netted once from open play in the league before finding the back of the net in the derby against Real Betis. Now, Alexis is set to return to Catalonia, where he became a fan favourite for his tireless work rate and contribution across three seasons as an FC Barcelona player.

Having joined Barça in the summer of 2011, Sánchez made as many as 141 appearances for Los Azulgranas, with whom he won six trophies including won a league title, a Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup. He parted ways with FC Barcelona in 2014 to join Arsenal before spells at Manchester United, Inter, Marseille and Udinese.

Alexis returned to Spain back in September, and he netted his first goal as a Sevilla FC player in a 2-1 comeback victory away at Deportivo Alavés. The 37-year-old forward has played against FC Barcelona five times in the past, but he hadn’t celebrated a single victory over Barça before facing them as a Sevilla FC player in October.

FC Barcelona seek revenge

Matchday 8 saw the Andalusian side host an FC Barcelona side who had hit the ground running in the league. Heading into the game on the back of six wins in their first seven games of the season, the Catalans looked to stretch their positive run. However, FC Sevilla punished a wasteful FC Barcelona on the counter and grabbed a 4-1 win at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

Alexis netted his first-ever goal against Barça to open the scoring from the spot early in the first half. Romero then doubled Sevilla FC’s lead, but Marcus Rashford pulled one back before the break. Momentum shifted in the second half, but Robert Lewandowski missed from the spot before Akor Adams and José Ángel Carmona scored one apiece to seal the outcome in the closing stages. That victory saw Sevilla FC end a 19-game winless streak against FC Barcelona, who hadn’t lost in Seville since 2015. They also handed Los Azulgranas one of their only four defeats so far this league season, this being the only game where Hansi Flick’s side conceded more than three goals in the league.

FC Barcelona will now look to make amends for that painful defeat in Seville by grabbing their 20th victory in 22 home games against the Andalusian side. Having not won in Catalonia since back in 2002, Sevilla FC will hope to maintain their momentum on Alexis Sánchez’s much-anticipated return to the Sportify Camp Nou.
