Alexis returned to Spain back in September, and he netted his first goal as a Sevilla FC player in a 2-1 comeback victory away at Deportivo Alavés. The 37-year-old forward has played against FC Barcelona five times in the past, but he hadn’t celebrated a single victory over Barça before facing them as a Sevilla FC player in October.
FC Barcelona seek revenge
Matchday 8 saw the Andalusian side host an FC Barcelona side who had hit the ground running in the league. Heading into the game on the back of six wins in their first seven games of the season, the Catalans looked to stretch their positive run. However, FC Sevilla punished a wasteful FC Barcelona on the counter and grabbed a 4-1 win at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

That victory saw Sevilla FC end a 19-game winless streak against FC Barcelona, who hadn’t lost in Seville since 2015. They also handed Los Azulgranas one of their only four defeats so far this league season, this being the only game where Hansi Flick’s side conceded more than three goals in the league.
FC Barcelona will now look to make amends for that painful defeat in Seville by grabbing their 20th victory in 22 home games against the Andalusian side.
