Making his first start of the season, Fermín López was absolutely everywhere. Overall against Valencia CF, he completed 41 of 46 passes, he won three of his four dribbles, he created two big chances for teammates and he scored two goals from his five shots.

Speaking after the match, the youngster revealed what Hansi Flick had instructed him in this first start of the campaign. “He told me to go out with intensity and also humility,” Fermín said. “The scoreboard shows the level we’re at. We’re doing well and need to keep this up.”
The midfielder also addressed the rumours that had circulated during the summer, linking him with a possible exit. But, he explained in his post-match interview that he has always wanted to remain at FC Barcelona. “I never doubted that I’d be here,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to be here and will fight to be here for many more years. There’s always speculation, and this forms part of football, but I was very calm and I’m very happy to remain here.”
Fermín López: Another La Masia gem
