It was an electrifying game, with Raphinha opening the scoring in the 36th minute, before there were three goals in first-half stoppage time to make it 2-2, with Vinicius Júnior, Robert Lewandowski and Gonzalo García each finding the back of the net. It was a particularly successful week for Raphinha, who scored two goals and provided one assist in the semi-final victory over Athletic Club, before scoring two big goals in the final. The first was a quick shot from an acute angle into Thibaut Courtois’ bottom corner, before his winning goal was a strike from the edge of the penalty area, which took a deflection over the Real Madrid goalkeeper.
The Brazilian now has 11 goals from 17 appearances this season, an impressive return considering he missed a couple of months with a hamstring injury. Now, he is back and playing as well as he did in 2024/25, when he was voted as the fifth best player in the world in the Ballon d’Or rankings.
Speaking after the game, Raphinha said: “Scoring a brace is the result of working well and working hard. We gave it our all. I was thrilled at the end of the match, I’m very happy to have won.”
