The very first match of the weekend features two teams who have yet to win this season, in Levante UD and Elche CF. But, both sides have played well, with the former giving FC Barcelona a scare and the latter drawing with Atlético de Madrid last Saturday. This Friday evening, in an all-Valencian Community affair, the first derby of the season, they’ll each seek their first three-point haul.

Later on Friday night, Getafe CF and José Bordalás will look to keep their magical start to the season going. They’ve already won away at RC Celta and at Sevilla FC, and now they travel to Mestalla to take on Valencia CF, one of the coach’s former clubs.
There are four fixtures on Saturday and the first is a hugely important game for Atlético de Madrid, who play away at Deportivo Alavés in search of their first victory of the season. It has already been the worst start to a league campaign in the Diego Simeone era, and they won’t want it getting any worse.
Real Oviedo vs Real Sociedad follows, with the home team seeking their first LALIGA EA SPORTS point since 2001. The atmosphere at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere promises to be electric once again, when the Basque outfit come to town.
The next match to kick off pits two struggling sides against each other. Girona FC and Sevilla FC have lost their two fixtures so far and find themselves in the relegation zone at this early stage of the season. That makes this a very important match, even in Matchday 3.
The action then moves to Spain’s capital and to the Bernabéu, where Real Madrid take on RCD Mallorca at 21:30 CEST. Los Blancos have won each of their past 10 home games against the islanders, scoring a total of 30 goals and conceding just six. The home crowd will hope for yet another victory and for even more goals.
The final four fixtures of the matchday all take place on Sunday, starting with RC Celta vs Villarreal CF. El Submarino Amarillo sit top of the table on goal difference, having won 2-0 and 5-0 to commence the campaign. But, this is the first away fixture of the campaign for Marcelino’s men, so it’ll be a different kind of test in Vigo.
Real Betis vs Athletic Club is next up, with Los Verdiblancos hoping for another home victory at the Estadio de La Cartuja, their temporary home. Both these clubs have lifted the Copa del Rey at this venue in recent years, but they can’t both leave this fixture happy.
One of the other Sunday evening matches is RCD Espanyol’s clash with CA Osasuna, a duel between two clubs who have enjoyed decent starts to the campaign. As they meet in Barcelona, it promises to be a very competitive fixture.
Vallecas hosts the final match of this round, with Rayo Vallecano taking on FC Barcelona at 21:30 CEST on Sunday night. Los Franjirrojos have caused Barça several problems in their recent meetings, with the Catalan side winning just three of the past eight duels between these clubs. That, though, included both meetings last season, even if each of Los Azulgranas’ victories were by just one goal. With the Vallecas crowd behind them, Rayo Vallecano will hope to give the reigning champions another scare in Matchday 3.
