Vargas began his football journey with his hometown club, Adligenswil, before moving to FC Luzern, where he progressed through their youth academy. At just 16, he made his Swiss Super League debut in a match against FC Zurich.
Though he initially split his time between Luzern’s first and second teams, Vargas ended the 2017/18 season with 20 top-flight appearances and one goal.
