Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Sam Nyamweya has penned heartfelt tribute to Prime Minister Raila Odinga who passed on, on October 15 after a heart attack at an Indian hospital.
Nyamweya a veteran sports administrator describe Raila as the father of democracy and said the country and the world at large had suffered a major loss.
“It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that I have learned of the sudden passing of Kenya’s former Prime Minister the Rt Honarable Raila Amolo Odinga. The news of Baba’s death has left the nation and indeed the entire African continent in mourning. We have lost a giant, a statesman, and a tireless champion for democracy, justice and the welfare of ordinary Kenyans,” Nyamweya said.

He added: “Raila Odinga’s contribution to Kenya’s political landscape and democratic progress cannot be overstated. His unwavering commitment to fighting for a better Kenya, his resilience in the face of adversity, and his dedication to the principles of democracy have inspired generations of Kenyans and leaders across Africa.”
Nyamweya concluded: “On behalf of the football fraternity and on my own behalf, and that of my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mama Ida Odinga, his children, the entire Odinga family, the Orange Democratic Movement, and all Kenyans during this difficult time.”
