FC Barcelona sit top of LALIGA EA SPORTS

The new LALIGA EA SPORTS season has begun and, as was the case at the end of last term, it’s FC Barcelona who currently sit top of the table. The defending champions kicked off their new campaign with a 3-0 victory away at RCD Mallorca, with Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal scoring one each.

RCD Espanyol shock Atlético de Madrid

One of the other standout results from Matchday 1 was RCD Espanyol’s 2-1 victory at home against Atlético de Madrid. Although Atleti took the lead via a stunning Julián Alvarez freekick, the Catalan side produced an impressive second-half comeback to turn the game around, with Miguel Rubio and Pere Milla scoring two goals the home fans will remember for some time.

Nico Williams starts the season on fire

Nico Williams produced an excellent performance in Matchday 1, becoming the first Athletic Club player in the past 10 years to win a penalty, to score and to assist in the same league game. His efforts helped Los Leones overcome Sevilla FC 3-2.

Tough starts for Real Oviedo and Levante UD

Two of the newly promoted sides have already played their first league game of the season and already suffered their first defeat. Real Oviedo endured a 2-0 loss away at Villarreal CF, while Levante UD fell 2-1 at Deportivo Alavés.

Just one draw in Matchday 1

Only one of the eight fixtures played so far has finished as a draw, the 1-1 draw between Valencia CF and Real Sociedad. Every other game ended with a victory for one of the teams, including Rayo Vallecano’s 3-1 away win at Girona FC and Getafe CF’s 2-0 away win at RC Celta.

Burgos CF top LALIGA HYPERMOTION

Spain’s second division, LALIGA HYPERMOTION, also returned this past weekend. There, Burgos CF thrashed Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa 5-1 in the opening game and that proved to be the best result of the weekend, putting Los Blanquinegros top of the table. Real Valladolid were another team to get off to a good start, defeating AD Ceuta 3-0.

Giacomo Raspadori is Atlético de Madrid’s latest signing

Clubs have also been continuing with their transfer business, and Atlético de Madrid have signed Giacomo Raspadori from Napoli. The Italy international is the club’s seventh new arrival of the summer.

Vitor Reis lands at Girona FC

Another eye-catching transfer was Vitor Reis’s loan move from Manchester City to Girona FC. The highly promising 19-year-old defender from Brazil will play for Los Blanquivermells in 2025/26, looking to gain experience and hone his skills.

Jules Koundé signs a new contract at FC Barcelona

Jules Koundé has committed his future to FC Barcelona, with the club officially announcing this past week that the French defender has agreed a new deal that’ll run until 2030. Signed from Sevilla FC in 2022, the 26-year-old has become a key member of the squad.

Rayo Vallecano’s European opponents are confirmed

It has been confirmed that Rayo Vallecano’s first European fixture in over two decades will be against Belarusian side Neman Grodno. The first leg of this Conference League playoff, which will be held in Hungary, will take place this coming Thursday, before the second leg in Madrid on August 28th.
