Real Sociedad host Athletic Club in the first BASQUE DERBY of the 2025/26 campaign.

Following a midweek of Copa del Rey action, it’s back to LALIGA EA SPORTS this weekend with several fascinating fixtures on the Matchday 11 schedule. That includes the first BASQUE DERBY between Real Sociedad and Athletic Club of this new season. The action begins in the centre of Spain, where Getafe CF take on Girona FC at the Coliseum on Friday night. The Catalan outfit sit bottom of the table and desperately need points, but it’ll be very tough away at Los Azulones, who sit 10th and who are within touching distance of the European qualification spots.

Saturday brings up four fixtures, starting with Villarreal CF vs Rayo Vallecano. Both these sides qualified for Europe last season and they’re enjoying very positive starts once again. Rayo Vallecano are in especially good form, with three victories from the past three matchdays, and they’ll look to keep that run going at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Atlético de Madrid are in action next, taking on Sevilla FC at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Los Colchoneros just defeated one team from Seville, earning an impressive 2-0 win away at Real Betis last Monday night, so now they’ll look to make it an Andalusian double by taking three points from Sevilla FC as well.

The first BASQUE DERBY of the season takes place at 18:30 CET on Saturday, with Real Sociedad hosting this game against Athletic Club at Anoeta. The team from Bilbao haven’t won in San Sebastián since 2017, so they’ll look to end that drought this weekend. From Real Sociedad’s point of view, they desperately need points to pull even further away from the relegation zone, considering they’re down in 17th as things stand. It should be a fascinating affair, as this fixture always is.

The final game of Saturday takes place in Spain’s capital, where Real Madrid host Valencia CF. Still on a high following last weekend’s win in ELCLASICO, Los Blancos know that they need another three points here to truly make the victory over Barça count. That’s easier said than done, however, especially after Valencia CF won 2-1 at the Bernabéu last season.

Levante UD vs RC Celta is the first of Sunday’s four matches, and the Galician side will look to build on last weekend’s result, when they won their first league game of the season. It took Claudio Giráldez’s squad 10 matchdays to achieve their first victory, and now they’re hoping for another in Matchday 11.

The action returns to the Basque Country on Sunday afternoon for Deportivo Alavés vs RCD Espanyol. Two of the Catalan side’s 11 wins last season came against Los Blanquiazules and, with RCD Espanyol now sitting in fifth place, they’ll hope and expect to take all three points once again.

The next game, at 16:15 CET, is FC Barcelona vs Elche CF, a huge opportunity for Hansi Flick’s side to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat. Elche CF, however, have been one of the most difficult teams to play against so far this LALIGA EA SPORTS season, losing just twice. Coached by former Barça assistant Eder Sarabia, this is a big game for Elche CF and their coaching staff too, and it promises to be a thrilling watch.

Real Betis host the Sunday night game this week, taking on RCD Mallorca in Seville. Curiously, the last three meetings between these clubs have each been won by the away side. So, can Real Betis end that trend in their temporary home of the Estadio de la Cartuja? We’ll soon find out.

There is one more game to conclude Matchday 11, the Monday night duel between Real Oviedo and CA Osasuna. It hasn’t been a great start for Luis Carrión since he returned to Los Azules, having suffered Copa del Rey elimination in midweek and having failed to win any of his first three games, so he’ll hope for a victory at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere this Monday night.
