Real Madrid and Athletic Club are the last two clubs with 100 percent records

Just two clubs have won all three of their matches so far to start this new LALIGA EA SPORTS season. For the first time since May of 2001, Real Oviedo have won a match in Spanish football’s top division. The newly promoted side defeated Real Sociedad 1-0 at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere on Saturday, with Leander Dendoncker scoring that long-awaited match-winning goal.

Elche CF win the battle of the newly promoted teams

Elche CF also achieved their first victory since promotion, winning a battle between two of the new LALIGA EA SPORTS teams. Los Franjiverdes overcame Levante UD 2-0 on Friday night, with Rafa Mir and Rodrigo Mendoza grabbing the two goals.  

Valencia CF and Sevilla FC get on the board

Two of Spain’s most historic clubs, Valencia CF and Sevilla FC, were both able to celebrate their first wins of the season in Matchday 3. Los Che turned it on to overcome Getafe CF 3-0 at Mestalla, while Sevilla FC overcame Girona FC 2-0 on the road, allowing Matías Almeyda to celebrate his first victory as coach.

Atlético de Madrid remain winless

Atlético de Madrid’s difficult start to the season has continued. Los Colchoneros were held to a 1-1 draw away at Deportivo Alavés in Matchday 3, meaning they have just two points from their first three fixtures of the season. It’s their worst start to a season under Diego Simeone.

Rayo Vallecano qualify for the next round in the Conference League

There was European action in Spain as well this past week, with Rayo Vallecano hosting Neman Grodno in Vallecas. The LALIGA EA SPORTS side won 4-0 to make it a 5-0 aggregate win over the Belarusian outfit, meaning they progressed to the league phase of the 2025/26 Conference League.

Clubs continue to strengthen their squads

The transfer market is about to close this Monday, and over the past week several Spanish clubs have continued strengthening their squads. There have been some eye-catching additions, such as Villarreal CF signing Canadian forward Tani Oluwaseyi, Levante UD bringing in Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan, Sevilla FC acquiring the veteran Spaniard César Azpilicueta or RCD Espanyol prizing young midfielder Urko González de Zárate away from Real Sociedad.
