It was six from six for Spanish clubs in Europe this past week, as Rayo Vallecano also won a Round of 16 tie, in their case overcoming Samsunspor 3-2 on aggregate in the Conference League. The European adventure continues for the club from Vallecas, with AEK Athens up next.

Ernesto Valverde will leave Athletic Club at the end of the season

It was announced this past week that Ernesto Valverde plans to step aside as first-team coach of Athletic Club at the end of the 2025/26 season. The 62-year-old is currently in his third spell in charge of Los Leones and will reach 500 matches in charge before he departs.
