Free entry for fans during CECAFA U-18 as Moi Stadium to undergo major renovation

Football Kenya Federation Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno has assured soccer fans that that there will be free entries in all venues during the forthcoming Confederation for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Under-18 Boys championship scheduled to take place in Kisumu and Kakamega from 25th/Nov to 8th December 2023.

Speaking in Kisumu after paying a courtesy call to Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o in his office,Otieno called on football fans drawn from CECAFA region and Kenya in particular ti turn up in large numbers to support the teams.

On his part Nyong’o said that hosting the tournament is a great honour to the city of Kisumu which is no doubt the headquarters of football in the region.

He assured Kisumu residents that very soon Moi Stadium will be no more as it is to under a major renovations.

“An ultra modern Olympics-like stadium is going to be built where Moi Stadium is and very soon Moi Stadium will no longer be there” he said

Nyong’o thanked Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba ,CECAFA governing council and FKF for choosing Kisumu to host the tournament.

“This honour to host CECAFA U-18 tournament comes at a time when we are also angling to be one of the hosts for Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)next year” he added.

The tournament will begin with Somalia taking on Rwanda while Kenya will play against Sudan.

During the function,Kisumu County Sports Minister Beatrice Odongo,CECAFA Marketing Manager Andrew Jackson and Nyanza Region FKF NEC member Joseph Andere were present.
