Tries from Darwin Mukidza and Andrew Amonde inspired KCB’s win against Kenyatta University-based Blak Blad, edging them 24-3 in their first match of the year played at Ruaraka Sports Club.
KCB opened the account in the 10th minute through Wilfred Waswa with a successful conversion from Shujaa International Darwin Mukidza to give the bankers the first 7 points of the game.
Former Shujaa captain Andrew Amonde scored the second try of the game, however, this time, Darwin failed to sail it through the conversion. The scores stood at 12-0 at the intervals.
Darwin and Michael Kimwele sealed the victory for the bankers with a try each in the second half with clinical Mukidza stepping up for the conversation role, to extend the lead to 24 points.
Blak Blad’s Kelvin Gathu’s penalty gave the visitors their 3 points of the game.
KCB Captain Curtis Lilako said, “We were a bit laxed in our defense but we are grateful for the win. We are currently topping the table and we want to ensure we maintain the momentum to claim the title.”
