Speaking during today’s training at the KCB Sports Club, assistant Coach Elvis Ayani noted that preparations are in top gear and ready to take on the Police, who are currently in fourth place with 42 points.
“From the training, the boys are continuously working hard, and we are ready for the clash. Police FC is a strong team, and they have been having a fairly good run in the league so far compared to us, but we are determined and confident enough to bag the maximum points from the clash.” Ayani noted.
Derrick Otanga, who rejoined the Bankers this season and has scored six goals so far, will lead the line, partnering with Philomen Nyamwaka and Stephen Etyang in the front three. Faruk Shikhalo is expected to start in goal, while Derick Otieno and Hanif Wesonga are also expected to feature.
KCB has endured a lackluster campaign in this year’s league fixtures, with just one victory, a hard-fought 3-2 win against Shabana early last month. The team has suffered four defeats and four goalless draws, the latest being against Bidco United last weekend. They have managed to scrape together only seven points from its last nine matches, perching them in the tenth position with thirty-four points, having won 8 games, drawn 10 times, and lost 7 times in the season.
“We are gradually getting back to our groove. We have not had a good run this year, and we continue to learn from where we have fallen short and convert that into our games. We are steadily improving, creating chances, and scoring goals, and we aim to keep the momentum and pick up as many points as possible.” Ayani added.
KCB is currently in the 10th position with 34 points from 25 matches played so far.
