Kenya’s biggest off-season football tournament pitting Leads United and Team Korogez will be played on Saturday 18th February 2023.
Third place between Dandora New Saints and Eastleigh South United will be played on Friday at 3pm.
This is after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja intervened and supported the tournament after that had taken a break over cash issues.
The sponsorship by Sakaja will see the winners walk away with Ksh. 150,000, 2nd place will walk away Ksh. 80,000, 3rd and 4th place will get Ksh. 50,000 and Ksh. 20,000 respectively.
Sakaja’s sponsorship also includes kits branding for the finals.
“We want to thank the governor for the massive support. He has been a friend of Kothbiro since time immemorial and him coming through is a big win for us,” said Paul Ojenge Kothbiro Chairman.
“This is a big win not only for the organizers but also the players who have fought really hard to get to this final point. We also thank the fans for their patience as well,” Ojenge stated.
More than 50 teams registered for this year’s Kothbiro football tournament.
The massive registrations of teams from different counties follows the success of the previous tournaments.
