Los Blancos visit Villarreal CF on Saturday night for a battle between two members of the top three.
Matchday 21 could be a decisive one in the 2025/26 LALIGA EA SPORTS season, especially at the top of the table. Following last weekend’s results, Real Madrid are now just one point behind FC Barcelona, and could even overtake the Catalan outfit, at least temporarily because Los Blancos play on Saturday whereas Los Azulgranas are in action on Sunday. There are other big games scheduled throughout the weekend, including a Valencian Community derby on Friday night between Levante UD and Elche CF. Both these clubs were promoted last season and are having quite different campaigns in the top flight, with the former sitting second-bottom and with Los Franjiverdes in eighth. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top in this one.

Rayo Vallecano vs CA Osasuna is the first of Saturday’s fixtures, and it promises to be a very competitive one since they’re both level on 22 points, in 12th and 13th place in the table. They each have one win, one loss and one draw from their past three matches, so are in similar form.
Next up is Valencia CF vs RCD Espanyol, who enter this matchday in 17th and in fifth position. Despite being at opposite ends of the table, it’s Valencia CF who come into this weekend on the back of a victory, whereas the Catalan side lost last time out.
Two of Spain’s most historic clubs face off on Saturday evening, with Sevilla FC hosting Athletic Club at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, but both teams are struggling right now. Neither club has a win across their past four matchdays, so the pressure is on both sides entering this one.

On Saturday night, at 21:00 CET, there is a huge game at the top of the table as Villarreal CF take on Real Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica. This is usually a very entertaining game, with their past eight meetings producing an average of 4.4 goals per game. Real Madrid have won the past three meetings, and another victory on Saturday night would put them top of the table, at least ahead of FC Barcelona’s game on Sunday.
The first of the Sunday games is also an important one in the title race, as Atlético de Madrid look to keep pace with those at the very top. Los Colchoneros take on RCD Mallorca at home, and will aim to keep up their incredible home record by making it 13 victories in a row at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

Then, at 16:15 CET, FC Barcelona return to the Spotify Camp Nou, where they’ll host Real Oviedo. This is the first meeting between these two teams at this stadium since the 2000/01 season, when the Asturian side actually emerged with a 1-0 victory. It’ll be a big occasion for the Asturian side as they return to this historic stadium, but Barça will set out to take all three points and establish their position at the top of the table.
The next fixture is a meeting of two of the most in-form teams in the division, with Real Sociedad hosting RC Celta. Both teams are unbeaten in the league in 2026, with La Real having collected seven points and the Galician outfit having taken nine points from a possible nine. Both teams are recovering from their slow starts to the season, and dreaming of a push for European qualification.

Deportivo Alavés host Sunday’s last game, taking on Real Betis at home. Having fallen into the relegation zone last weekend, the Basque side will be desperate to move out of the bottom three as soon as possible.
Girona FC are one of the other in-form teams of the moment, with three victories in a row and four wins from their past five in LALIGA EA SPORTS. Míchel’s men will host Getafe CF on Monday night, with a chance to climb even further up the table.
