How FKF premier league clubs have forged partnerships for women’s teams to meet CAF licensing requirements

As the new season approaches, FKF Premier League teams have been diligently establishing partnerships and creating women’s teams to fulfill the stringent CAF Club licensing requirements.

All teams, but Talanta FC have reportedly entered into partnerships with existing female teams or formed new ones altogether to avoid sanctions related with failing to meet the threshold set by CAF as the deadline, which is seven days away, looms.

Clubs that will not have female sides by deadline day will be issued an interim license provided they pay a total of USD 3000. Failure to pay this amount, which is equivalent to about Kshs 400,000 will see the clubs expelled from the league.

KCB has become the most recent side to enter into a partnership with an existing female team in Madira Girls’ Soccer Academy, alias Soccer Assassins that recently earned promotion to the FKF Women Premier League.

Through this partnership, KCB Bank will pay school fees for 10 players in the team to the tune of half a million Kenyan Shillings.

Here is how other FKF PL teams have partnered;

  • Gor Mahia- acakoro Ladies
  • AFC Leopards- Makolanders
  • Shabana- Kisii Starlets
  • Tusker- Macmillan Queens
  • Nzoia Sugar- Bungoma Queens
  • Kakamega Homeboyz- Kakamega Starlets
  • Kariobangi Sharks- Kariobangi Sports Women’s Club
  • KCB- Soccer Assasins
  • Police FC- Police Bullets
  • Ulinzi Stars- Ulinzi Starlets
  • Posta Rangers-TUK Ladies
  • Bandari-Bandari Queens
  • Sofapaka- Nairobi Starlets
  • Bidco United- Kiambu Ladies
  • Murang’a Seal- Murang’a Seals Queens
  • City Stars- Kangemi Ladies

Talanta FC is reportedly in the process of forming a Women’s team through a partnership with Talanta Hela and the Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS).

These strategic partnerships not only address CAF licensing requirements but also signify the commitment of FKF Premier League clubs to fostering gender equality and promoting women’s involvement in football.
