KCB women’s volleyball team shift focus to league encounter with DCI in Mombasa

KCB Head Coach Japheth Munala has called on his charges to bounce back when they face DCI tomorrow after their 3-1 loss to Kenya Pipeline in the 4th leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League at the Makande Indoor Gymnasium, Mombasa County.

KCB won the second set 25-20 while Kenya Pipeline claimed the first set winning 25-23, the third set 25-20 and the fourth set 25-20.

Commenting after the match, KCB Head Coach Japheth Munala said: “We struggled a lot today against a very good side. We are trying many combinations and instilling our system in the new guys who are joining the team after the departure of Sharon Jepchumba. Our attention now shifts to tomorrow’s game and the playoffs which are edging closer.”

The Lionesses lost the services of Opposite Attacker Sharon Jepchumba who joined Greece side Aris Thessaloniki back in October and Munala believes the void she left is still being felt. He has however expressed optimism in the young blood to propel the team to glory once the season comes to an end.

Team Captain Edith Wisa said: “The girls played well today but it was a bad day in the office. We are regrouping as a team and I can promise our fans that we will register positive results when we face DCI tomorrow.

Today’s duel was the first league match the team participated in 5 months after their triumph in the African Club Championships at Kelibia, Tunisia.
