The High Court has this morning declined to grant former powerful National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) official Stephen Soi bail, pending the hearing of his appeal in the 2016 Rio Olympics scandal.
The court said that Soi who had complained of his health, could be treated in prison and that there was no exceptional circumstances in his bail application. The court also ordered for his appeal to be expedited.
Soi, 65, was in September last year convicted and sentenced by chief magistrate Elizabeth Juma to pay a fine of Sh105 million or in default serve 17 years in prison.
He lodged an appeal challenging the decision and also sought to be released on bail pending appeal.
