Kenya Cup league leaders, KCB RFC, are gearing up for the weekend showdown against Catholic Monks RFC.
The ninth placed University lads, with 10 points, will be looking to upset the league leaders at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka. KCB RFC on the other-hand, will be looking at maintaining their perfect start to the season that has seen them accumulate the maximum points.
Speaking during a training session at the KCB Sports Club, Assistant Coach Denis Mwanja said: “The league has been very competitive so far and despite our undefeated start to the season, we need to focus on the upcoming matches and have the same hunger to win the upcoming games.”
The bankers sit at the top of the standings, followed by the defending champions Kabras Sugar with 34 points after seven rounds in the current season.
“I am proud of every member of the team. Each one of them has proven their worth on the pitch. The upcoming fixture is another tough one but we are ready to go out on the pitch and battle,” said Mwanja.
KCB extended the perfect run in the 2022/23 Kenya Cup season with a 33-18 victory over Strathmore Leos two weeks ago.
Mwanja acknowledged the upcoming encounters against Kabras Sugar and Menengai Oilers and urged the team to keep up the momentum and remain undefeated ahead of the playoffs.
KCB will travel to Nakuru on February 11th, 2023, to face last season’s finalists Menengai Oilers.
