Despite being just 21 years old, the Spain international is only four appearances away from reaching 100 matches for Los Leones. He is the side’s top assist provider so far this campaign having set up five goals, while nine of his 13 senior strikes came last season.

Athletic Club have tied down a player who was linked with some of Europe’s biggest sides. However, Nico has chosen to continue making history at the club alongside his brother Iñaki Williams, a mainstay in the team for almost a decade now.

The pacy winger arrived at Lezama, the club’s prestigious youth academy, a decade ago at U12 level and has since made steady progress on his way to becoming a crucial figure in the first team.

He was part of the Spain squad at last year’s World Cup, and is a footballer of enormous talent with the ability to impact the present and future. He signed his new deal at San Mames on Friday morning alongside Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte and the club’s director of football, Mikel González.
