A total of 50 Busia MCAs take oath of office

Fifty Members of the third County Assembly of Busia today took oath of office in the ceremony presided over by Clerk to the Asssmbly, Allan Mabuka.

The first to be sworn in were four MCAs who were re-elected after the August 9, 2022 general elections. They are Gardy Obara Jakaa of Bukhayo North/Walatsi Ward, MDG, Beatrice Phemmy Kanoti ( Bwiri, Independent), Patrick Geoffrey Omanyala ( Malaba North, Wiper) and James Ong’ole Adung’osi ( Ang’orom, ODM).

Former nominated MCA Monica Apio Mungala was the fifth to take the oath of office after she won her second nomination. She was followed by MCAs who recaptured their seats after losing in 2017 elections. They are Tony Onyango Opondo ( Burumba, ODM) and Josephat Wandera (Elugulu, ODM).

Former First Lady, Judy Onamu Ojaamong who was nominated by ODM party also took the oath of office that saw the members also sign leadership and integrity code that was witnessed by an officer from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Others sworn in included Alexander Otsieno Ayieko, (Marachi East, ODM), Eduwa Irene Victoria (Special Elect, ODM), Sylvanus Maindi Alianda ( Bunyala North, ODM), Bonface Erute Ekabten, Amukura West UDA), Leonard Emuriet (Amukura East, ODM), Eseme Joseph Anthony (Angurai South, DAP-K), Karani David Parapara (Angurai East, NCC).

Zaccheaus Adukeyi Kubasu (Marachi North, MDG), Simon Maina Kuria (Marachi West, MDG), Makabwa Johnstone Bwire ( Nangina, ODM), Makokha Bonventure Okwach (Bukhayo Central, NRA), Mamai Bonface Ekada (Malaba South, MDG), Shadrack O. Masinde (Marachi Central, ODM), Mudibo Richard Okello (Mayenje, ODM), Denzil Endunglot Musumba ( Chakol South, ODM).

Dalmas Onjole Ekilejo ( Chakol North, DAP-K), Stephen Nasiagi Oyango (Bunyala South, ODM), Beatrice Akinyi Opwapo (Special Elect, ODM), Rupia Kennedy Ouma ( Nambale Township, DAP-K), Peter Kipkoech Talam (Bukhayo West, ODM), Isaac Wamalwa (Angurai North, DAP-K), Wandera Eunice Wesonga( Bukhayo East, ODM), Wanyonyi Seraphine Mercy ( Special Elect, NRA), Wasike Angeline ( Special Elect, ODM) and Zakayo Harrison Nyongesa (Special Elect, ODM).

Hon Erute said it was a big day that they had longed for that would give them mandate to ensure residents in respective wards had access to quality service, adding that they will also ensure the betterment of health care services.
