Three-time national shot-put champion Peter Kamau Mwangi continued his hot streak in 2023 when he threw 16.25 metres to win the men’s competition at the fourth edition of the Absa Kip Keino Classic Continental Gold Tour at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Saturday.
The national event is the first of a delicious menu of entertainment for the day, which includes the core and discretionary categories of competition.
The 39-year-old took top honours ahead of his closest rival, former national champion Benson Maina, who threw 15.86m as Fredrick Kiprop Chumba took third place with a throw of 15.30m. Mwangi’s latest win comes almost a fortnight after he threw 15.71 to clinch the men’s shot-put at the 6th Athletics Kenya Track and Field Weekend Meeting at the Nyayo National Stadium.
