Raila blames UDA goons for attacks on Azimio La Umoja supporters in Kisii

Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga has strongly condemned the attacks meted on the coalition supporters by ‘hired goons’ during their meeting in Kisii County on Friday and pointed a finger to UDA for hiring the goons.

The attack left several supporters with injuries, an act that the veteran politician described as barbaric and uncalled for.

“Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party strongly condemns the incident in which UDA operatives, working with state officers and well-known criminals, invaded villagers in Kisii and hacked people and destroyed property. The victims in this attack were youths who attended the very peaceful Azimio rally in Kisii on Friday,” Raila said in a written statement.

He added: “The attackers were led by a well-known jail bird and hard core criminal with several warrants of arrest to his name and this is an indication that we are back to rule by thuggery and hooliganism. Action must be taken on the criminals who participated in this attack, otherwise people will have no option but to protect themselves in the best way they can.”
