Seasoned PR and Marketing manager Jackie Tonui appointed as a member of the National Lottery

Former BetKing and Betika Marketing Manager Jackline Chelangat Tonui has been appointed as a member of the National Lottery expected to mobilise resources to supplement the government’s efforts towards addressing various social causes and needs.

According to a gazette notice dated February 17, 2023, the National Lottery’s Steering Committee will be chaired by Devki’s Narendra Raval with Gideon Thuranira as the vice chairman.

Apart from Tonui, other members of the National Lottery Steering Committee include KCB Chief Executive Officer Paul Russo Judith Kiragu, Anne Wakathiru Njenga, Grace Kamau and Abdillahi Mutwafy. Others seating in the committee will be the National Treasury PS or his representative, Interior PS or his representative, Social Protection PS or his representative, Culture and Heritage PS or her representative, Solicitor General or his representative and a Representative of the Council of Governors.

The Lottery’s Technical Committee will be chaired by Linda Musumba while joint secretaries will be Clinton Mwita and Margaret Githaiga.

Tonui was monumental in pushing the Betika Na Community agenda, while at the betting firm, as well as championing the firms involvement in the World Rally Championships (WRC) Safari Rally and Youth Empowerment drives among others.

The Terms of Reference of the Presidential Taskforce shall be to undertake a comprehensive review of the best practices on the establishment of national lotteries in other jurisdictions, to develop the policy and implementation plan that will guide the establishment and operationalization of the National Lottery in Kenya, to facilitate the necessary consultations with all key stakeholders in the country on the establishment of a National Lottery and to examine the existing administrative, institutional, policy and legislative structures and systems in the betting and gaming industry and to recommend comprehensive reforms.
